Berry Pomeroy Castle |
It is said that the ruins of this very old castle are among the most haunted in England.
It was built in the late 15th century by the Pomeroy family who first came to England during the times of the Norman invasion of England in 1066 and settled in Devon. In times of prosperity the Pomeroys were a very influential family with high social status and close friends with Royalty. They were also a family of Knights, Barons and Sheriffs of Devon. In troubled times they also rebelled against Royalty, were in debt...more |

During one of our nights at Berry Pomeroy we could hear all manner of sounds coming from within the castle. We assumed it was local wildlife but this footage shows how dark and alone you really are down there. |

Bodelwyddan Castle |
The history of the house and estate extends to before 1460 though the association with the Williams family dates from around 1690. The Castle as seen today is a creation of Sir John Hay Williams dating from between 1830 and 1852. Architects Hansom and Welch were employed by Sir John to refurbish and extend the house while further works at this time also resulted in a magnificent estate wall and formal garden
In 1994, the County Council leased part of the site to the Rank Organisation for its first Warner H...more |

During our visit to Bodelwyddan Castle in Wales Sam managed to capture an Orb when she asked what Steven felt at the time was a young girl to show her a light. This is quite something as it is right on cue. |

Farnham Castle |
Farnham Castle was built by Henry of Blois, Bishop of Winchester, during the first half of the 12th century. Little is known about this early castle other than it had a tower, possibly made of stone, on top of a large motte. This was demolished on the orders of Henry II in 1155, but recent archaeological excavations have revealed the large basement and foundations of the original tower at the centre of the motte. The castle was rebuilt in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, with the earlier motte entirely surro...more |

During a vigil where a rather negative energy resides we experienced a door open on its own. It may have been caused by air pressure from an adjoining corridor or it may have been something else. There is a definite click just before the door opens. |

Hell Fire Caves |

These mysterious caves were originally excavated in the 1750's on the site of an ancient quarry by Sir Francis Dashwood (who later became Lord le Despencer) in order to provide work for unemployed farm workers following a succession of harvest failures.
It is thought that his inspiration for the design of the Caves came from his grand tour of Europe and the Ottoman Empire. On his return Sir Francis Dashwood founded the Hellfire Club and became a leading member of the Dilettanti Society and the Divan Club....more |

This is the moment when we were lucky to witness first hand Poltergeist activity at the Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe in June 2004. Watch very carefully to the bottom right hand corner of the screen and you will just catch the Monkey going. |

The same night in June when the monkey went over we also managed to capture these strange lights in the Miners cave. We checked with Paranormal Tours and there were no lights or equipment set up in that part of the cave. |

King John's Castle |

Odiham Castle, today a crumbling ruin, has been home to many kings over the years and also to Elizabeth 1. But it is not with the ghosts of kings, queens and other royal personages that the castle is haunted, but by that of a lowly minstrel. On clear moonlit evenings, especially in autumn, are often heard the sweet notes of his flute and with them sometimes appears the spectre of the minstrel, often described as ‘a thing of shreds and patches.' On the banks of the canal which links the old castle with the vil...more |

This is the second car park in Sydenham Road that resides on the plot of land that was Lorna's house in 1673. Lorna died after running away from home and falling down the Quarry Pit. Her ghost was seen many times in the house in the 17th and 18th century.
In 1969 when the first car park was having maintenance work carried out, two workmen saw a woman on the second floor. Believing she was a potential suicide, they went to investigate but as they approached, the woman disappeared, awakening stories of Lorna...more |

The Maltings |

This 600 year old building originaly a Maltings in Safron Walden is now a Youth Hostel run by the YHA.
There has been many reportings of activity at this site and with such a long and vaired history there is no real surprise there. One story tells how the wife of the owner fell to her death through some missing floor boards, was this an accident or was the intent to murder there. With its old crooked walls and haunted cellar this site is steeped in so much character....more |

Waverley Abbey |

Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey to be founded in Britain.
It is located near a beautiful riverside meadow and in a peaceful valley by the river Wey, two miles south of Farnham, Surrey.
In 1128 William Giffard, Bishop of Winchester, first granted 60 acres of arable land and pasture for the foundation of the abbey.
The ghost of a monk that was hung drawn and quarterd is said to roam the grounds searching for his remains....more |
